Getting it right VS waiting for a problem.

A 1-1 client of ours made an interesting point this morning.
‘People ask me why I have a dog trainer, our puppy has no issues & I told them I want to get it right. It would be so easy for me to f*** him up’.
She was right about the general consensus of dog training. People pick up the phone and look for help generally when something is already going wrong. They never think to ask for help with a ‘getting it right first time’ mentality.
We’re all aware that prevention is better than a cure. We maintain our cars to make sure we’re not pulled up on the side of the M1 with a vehicle that won’t start and a dead phone battery praying to a higher power that we let our breakdown cover renew and there’s an emergency phone somewhere along the hard shoulder so why don’t we feel this way about our dogs and their training?
